Former Virgin Atlantic Exec and Travel Media Veteran team up to reimagine the way luxury hotels are booked online
August 24, 2010 (Darien, CT) - Discover Luxury LLC today announced the launch of a new luxury hotel booking site, DiscoverLuxury.com, offering consumers and hotel brands a new approach to online travel. Recognizing the need for an easy-to-navigate, well informed hotel booking site that features only the world’s finest luxury properties, the site simplifies the way consumers find and book top hotels online.
Created by David Tait, Richard Branson’s first employee at Virgin Atlantic Airways and the architect of its category-busting business plan, and Robert Ingraham, previously EVP of The Travel Group at Questex Media, DiscoverLuxury.com is a direct response to the inadequacy of online booking options for luxury hotels. “Why should someone have to sort through thousands of one and two star hotels and banner ads from clothing stores when trying to book a luxury hotel? ” says Ingraham, “we recognized a real need for an online site that takes the hassle and noise out of the online booking process.”
DiscoverLuxury.com removes the guesswork by handpicking only those luxury properties that show a true dedication to guest satisfaction and comfort. In addition, the site is designed to make the experience of researching and booking hotels enjoyable. "We wanted to create a luxury hotel site where, like the properties we feature, visitors are treated to a pleasurable experience rather than a dreary classified search process," adds Tait.
The management team sees their relationship with individual hotels and brands as being equally important. Discover Luxury offers hoteliers the ability to control the information being given to consumers by offering them the ability to showcase their unique brands. By going beyond the star rating system and empowering the hotels to control content the site hopes to create a trusted resource for both consumers and the hotels themselves.
As the site grows, additional hotel-generated content will help consumers to make more educated choices and the company will unveil a range of value-added services designed to further streamline the entire process. “We wanted it to be simple,” continues Ingraham, “the best hotels in the world at the best possible rates…is that too much to ask?”
